What is collage? Collage is a mixed media modern art technique that started in the early 1900s. Some well-known artists that worked with collages include Henri Matisse and Picasso, but really, collage can be made by anyone anywhere! Dig up those old magazines, outdated newspapers, and any other papers you can cut up. Grab some coloring utensils (whether you like paint, markers, oil pastels, or crayons best) and be ready to make a collage portrait of you or someone who inspires you. We will be looking at collage artworks, both old and new, to learn what features make an eye-grabbing, story-telling collage.Inspired by artists Elizabeth Catlett, Paulo do Prado, Romare Bearden
