This workshop is for those who:

  • Are starting out in the entertainment and music fields
  • Have written songs and don't know what to do next
  • Play in a band
  • Are established musicians who need a refresher on music business practices
  • Are curious about the music business
  • Produce or record artists
This workshop covers basic music business topics, such as:
  • Copyright
  • Why you should protect your music
  • SR v. PA copyrights
  • Copyright v. publication
  • Music Modernization Act
  • Why set up a business? -  LLC, S-Chapter, Sole Proprietorship, 501c3
  • Pitfalls to avoid in music business practice
  • Ethical sharing of music rights and royalties
  • Song ownership
  • Music marketing - the basics
  • What publishing a song means

    Time for Questions & Answers will be provided. A 15-minute performance will be included.
