This is a call to all artists, makers, crafters, creatives, inventors and out-of-the-box thinkers! We’ve all experienced a year like no other and Rochester Contemporary Art Center (RoCo) wants to see what you’ve made in response. This February, RoCo will host a juried exhibition that aims to explore, document, reflect, and celebrate (yes, there things to celebrate) our individual and collective experience of the last twelve months.
We hope to receive the widest possible range of submissions including works that have been inspired by life in the last year, from topics like the pandemic, racial injustice, national and local politics, climate crisis; AND responses of healing, activism, empathy, innovation, community building, and hopefulness for the future.
This project aims to feature a diverse and inclusive representation of our community’s creative output since March 2020. We welcome and encourage submissions by all inventive and creative humans, not just those working in the fine arts. This call is limited to pieces made after February 2020. We will preference projects that haven’t previously been exhibited.
We encourage media/video submissions, however they will be handled separately. If you have a documentary or video artwork you’d like to submit please email (dropbox link, etc.) to: info@rochestercontemporary.org
