Juneteenth Celebration at the Strong Museum
Saturday, June 20, 2026 10 am - 8 pm: FREE ADMISSION and parking at the Strong Museum: Celebrate Juneteenth with performances and activities promoting and cultivating the knowledge and appreciation of Black history and culture. In partnership with the Rochester Area Community Foundation and Greater Rochester Martin Luther King Jr. Commission, The Strong offers free admission and parking from 10 a.m.–8 p.m. in honor of Juneteenth.

- Black National Anthem Performance – Wilson Lobby, 10:45 a.m.
Kick off your day with a performance of the Black National Anthem by Holden James Turner.
- Forever Essence Fashion Show – Paychex Theater, 11 a.m.
Experience a dazzling display of stylish outfits, bold colors, and powerful statements honoring the importance of Juneteenth provided by the Beauty Queens of Forever Essence.
- RocMusic Performance – Adams Atrium, 11:30 a.m.
Enjoy a musical performance from RocMusic as they show off the talents of their jazz combo band, Dreamseeds!
- Musical Moments – Paychex Theater, 1 p.m.
Listen to an empowering singing performance by Holden James Turner and accompanist Zachary Peterson.
- Poets from Rochester – Adams Atrium, 2 p.m.
Enjoy a variety of poetry readings from talent all across Rochester! From standard readings to poems that include movement or song, there’s something for everyone. Featuring the talents of: Ke-nijah Holloman, Arianna Blandino, Eaim Guity, Sofia LeBron Williams, Nicoya Jones, and Zetta Hayes.
- AMBC Choir – Paychex Theater, 2:30 p.m.
Celebrate music, culture, and community with the AMBC Choir.
- Hair Braiding – Play Lab, 11 a.m.–3 p.m.
Learn about the importance of hair braiding and management in the African American culture.
- Photo Ops and High Fives – Adams Atrium, 11 a.m.–3 p.m.
Meet the Patriotic Captain and the Mermaid Princess throughout the day!
- Celebrate and Play – Riedman Commons, 11 a.m.–3 p.m.
Get moving and enjoy the outdoors with family and friends! Join in on the neighborhood tradition of Double Dutch or show off your moves with hula hoops.
- Freedom Scholars Art – Pixel Landing, 11 a.m.–3 p.m.
View poster presentations showcasing the many notable life achievements of African American women and their impact they left on society. Created by students from the Freedom Scholars Learning Center.
- Crowned in Heritage – Reading Adventureland, 11 a.m.–3 p.m.
Practice styling crowns and then decorate one of your own.
- Juneteenth Uno Remix – Puppy’s Game Café, 11 a.m.–3 p.m.
Play a game of Uno, officially the unofficial card game of Black culture! Share your personal rules for the game or learn about someone else’s all while listening to a special Juneteenth music mix.
- Sugary Delights – Puppy’s Game Café, 11 a.m.–3 p.m.
Enjoy a sweet cotton candy treat from Sugary Delights. Fees apply.
