A full day steeped in Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) culture is in store with Friends of Ganondagan’s Native American Winter Arts Festival on Saturday, December 3 from 10 am-5 pm, offering shopping, storytelling, Iroquois Social Dancers, and food at the Seneca Art & Culture Center at Ganondagan, 7000 County Road 41, Victor, NY.
This family-friendly day features:
·
Shopping for original Haudenosaunee-made gifts including jewelry, all forms of artwork, basketry, books, recordings, and more (ALL DAY)

Friends of Ganondagan is particularly enthusiastic about having the prolific, award-winning writer and storyteller Joseph Bruchac (Abenaki) with son Jesse at this event. As a professional teller of traditional tales of the Adirondacks and the Native peoples of the Northeastern Woodlands, Bruchac has performed widely in Europe and throughout the United States from Florida to Hawaii, and has been featured at such events as the British Storytelling Festival and the National Storytelling Festival in Jonesboro, Tennessee. He has been a storyteller-in-residence for Native American organizations and schools throughout the continent, including the Institute of Alaska Native Arts and the Onondaga Nation School. As a visiting author, he discusses Native culture and his books as well as presenting storytelling programs at dozens of schools each year.
Admission to the festival, which includes admission to the gallery for exhibit viewing and the Iroquois Creation Story film, is $5/general public, $3/members, seniors and students ages 13+, free for children 12 and under.
