Looking for a new way to have fun outdoors? Learn orienteering, a great outdoor activity for all ages! Brush up on your map skills while hiking through our beautiful WNY parks. Orienteering is a sport in which a map is used to navigate a course; it can be done solo but is also a great family activity! The Buffalo Orienteering Club is holding a "Learn & Practice" event at Chestnut Ridge Park on Tuesday, May 13th at 5:30pm. Instruction will be followed by the opportunity to try out the permanent course, with the instructor leading the group to the first few controls and the chance to finish the course on your own. Cost is $5 for non-members and pre-registration is required by Sunday, May 11. This is a great opportunity to learn how to read a topographic map, learn basic compass skills, and navigate a beginner orienteering course.
