Owl Moon at Genesee Country Village & Museum is a wintertime evening event inspired by the beloved book Owl Moon by Jane Yolen.
Visitors are invited to explore the Museum's trails on guided nighttime hikes led by GCV&M naturalists, experiencing the woods as owls do. Along the way, learn about owl behavior, habitats, and the species native to our region. Guests will also have the opportunity to meet live owls up close with our friends from Wild Wings Inc., who will share information about these fascinating nocturnal birds and their conservation work.
Before or after your hike, stay and enjoy the evening. Warm up by outdoor fire pits, listen to readings of Owl Moon, enjoy food and beverages in the Meeting Center and browse owl-themed merchandise and Village-made goods in the Flint Hill Store.
Owl Moon takes place rain or snow. Visitors should dress for very cold weather and wear good walking shoes. Flash photography is not allowed during hikies or owl encounters. Fod and beverages are not permitted on guided hikes. Tickets much be purchased online in advance.
