Preparing for the Holidays
*The event has already taken place on this date: Sat, 11/19/2016
19th-century families needed to start early if they were going to be ready for the holidays. Share in that age-old experience as the GCV&M presents Preparing for the Holidays: the 19th-Century Way. KIDS ARE FREE!
Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.
In the village, activities will include tastings; mold making; sausage stuffing; smoking meats and other meat preserving; candle making; wool spinning; gift making and more! A holiday meal wouldn't be complete without a ham. Watch as expert carvers butcher the meat and learn about where food really comes from.
Don't forget to do some hands-on activities by taking part in the Crafts at Christmas program, in which you'll make your very own Christmas crafts to take home and give as gifts (or keep for yourself)!
*Times, dates, and prices of any activity posted to our calendars are subject to change. Please be sure to click through directly to the organization’s website to verify.
